Description

Exhbition overview: Tamworth Regional Gallery’s collection holds significant treasures – artworks that capture the essence of textile art, and include iconic pieces from a collection that is nearly 100 years old. The gallery’s association with textile art dates back to the 1970s. The nationally significant collection comprises excellent examples of works that document the changes in textile practice over the past 40 years, creating an important record of the evolving nature and progress of textile practice from a national perspective. This exhibition also features iconic collection artworks from all periods, mediums and styles, including landscapes by Hans Heysen, Sydney Long, Elioth Gruner, Ken Done, Will Ashton and Elisabeth Cummings, examples of stunning early silverware from the Regan Collection, and even contemporary sculpture. The exhibition also marks the launch of the new Tamworth Regional Gallery website, which will ensure the collection is now accessible to the public via a searchable database and provide up-to-date information on exhibitions and programs.
