For the majority of her career, Anita Larkin has concentrated on developing her own unique approach to textile practice, which combines handmade felting techniques with the arrangement of collected objects. Her pieces are sculptural in form and instantly recognisable by their distinctive nature. Larkin graduated from Sydney College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Visual Arts in 1993. Since then she has exhibited extensively, including at the 2014 Sculptural Felt International, Museum Nagele in the Netherlands; the 5th Beijing International Art Biennale in 2012 and the 6th International World Textile Art Biennial of Contemporary Art in Mexico. Anita Larkin's works are held in the art collections of the Australian War Memorial, the Wollongong Art Gallery, Westmead Hospital, World Textile Art Organisation and The Lady Ethel Knock Sculpture Collection NSW. She has received numerous awards including the Salon for Textile Art Object Award 2011 and she was a finalist in the 2008 Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
