Description
'Marlon' is a black, altered wingback chair which appears to warp and stagger under the weight of a mutant colony of black upholstered growths, which are beaded and sequined. What looks like a 'puddle' of black 'liquid' pools under the chair, however, it is actually made from flexible rubber. 'Marlon' is part of a body of work Margarita Sampson created titled ‘Infectious Desires’, in which she explores themes such as 'colonisations, growth, opportunistic expansion, taking over spaces and re-contextualising them'.
This work was short listed for Blake Prize in 2015.
