Description
Stylistically, Impressionist, this small oil painting is probably of the second Albert Bridge (1895), Brisbane which replaced the first bridge destroyed in the 1893 flood. That bridge was completed in 1875 to connect Ipswich to Brisbane by rail. Named in honour of Prince Albert (the Prince of Wales), the bridge connected Indooroopilly and Chelmer with two long spans and one central pier. While, this is now a highly suburban area it was semi-rural at the time. In a wooden frame, painted with gold painted (antique paint) edges.
