Description

By the 1940s Gordon Lyall Trindall was widely known in Australia for his portraits and nudes. Reputed to be a portrait of the artist's second wife, Florence, 'Romance' is an oil painting is of woman in her mid-30s sitting with a basket of flowers. She is wearing a white semi-sheer gown, draped over with red cape which is held with a cameo brooch. The painting is in a cedar stretcher and mounted in a carved frame that is overpainted with gold paint.
