Description
A small scale and beautifully composed work, Broadwater Gosford displays Elioth Gruners proficiency in capturing the ephemeral effects of light upon the Australian landscape. Contained yet brisk brushstrokes upon the surface of the painting suggest this work was painted en plein air, which was Gruner's preferred method of capturing landscapes. Gruner was awarded the Wynne Prize for Australian Landscape painting in 1916 and 1919.
