Description
‘View of Mt Emu, Victoria’ is a delicate watercolour painting depicting a stockman and his dog watching over a grazing herd of sheep. These subjects become secondary, however, when the composition draws the eye down the valley to Mt Emu. This focal point was located close to Challicum Station, and is also the subject of a number of D.E. Cooper’s earlier works. True to his reputation for detail, the artist has paid close attention to the lay of the land, its plant life and geographic features.
