Description

'Sandstone' is a large scale fibre textile tryptich by Tamworth artist Sybil Orr. Orr has employed various techniques in the creation of the work, highlighting her high level of skill in the textile medium. A range of materials including wool, cotton, linen, leather and wood are present in the work. The tryptich features a paterned abstract form that stretches across the three panels. The layers of lines and organically formed circles evoke a birds eye view of paddocks and rural landscapes, which is in keeping with the artist's typical thematic explorations of environmentalism. 'Sandstone' was the winner the Tamworth Art and Craft Society’s second fibre exhibition in 1976.
