Description
Irmina Van Niele has skillfully employed discarded plastic bags to knit five different garment like pieces, resembling simwear. Each piece is a different main colour - green, pink, white, blue then grey. The piece centres around the theme of loss - a recurrent exploration in Van Niele's work and the focus of her Doctorate Thesis in 2006. She works across a range of mediums and in addition to her textile practice is known for sculpting and installation work.
